To view these, open the attachment. Hope this works for the rest of you. This doesn't make sense considering that you can view a thumbnail rendering of the PDF file in icon mode.
File attachments can be viewed in the Reading Pane or in the body of an email message without opening another program.

Preview attachments in Outlook
Sadly, the installer from Adobe does not write the correct registry setting to also enable the previewer on a bit version of Windows. Windows 8 and Windows Server and later provide native support for indexing pdf-files.
Can I preciew off file preview? I have no idea how this got created on the machine but found this reg key.
After that outlopk download a pdf viewer to preview the pdf files. I have Windows 10, bit Microsoft outlook adobe reader DC latest version and I cannot preview pdf files through Outlook in my emails and have to double-click each attachment to open in Acrobat.
Double click on it and click add and ok. We'll send you an email containing your password.

I also checked that the registry AppID is correct. You should preview or open attachments from trustworthy sources only. Attach a file or a folder to a message in Outlook for Previeww. After trying several online solutions, still didn't work, but I reckoned the issue must be default program setting.
