Hatari is a better emulation, but the UI is so clunky and unreliable that I opt for Steem. At eemulator time, Macs were solely monochrome, and Amigas were solely color. A Freeware release of the popular Gemulator, this is a very confusing emulator to use.
Download it and try it My opimion is that Steem is the best. Unlike many other Atari ST emulators which try to give you a good environment for running GEM applications, Hatari emmulator to emulate the hardware of a ST as close as possible so that it is able to run most of the old ST games and demos. All I could ever find was the version.
It's really the only option I got too, since I use Linux exclusively. Since it is not possible to ship one of these image files with Hatari, you either have to create your own image from your Atari or you have to use EmuTOSa free TOS replacement. If you like Windows emulators, you might want to give this one a try.
The monochrome screen was excellent and high-resolution for the era, providing credible competition for the Macintosh at a much lower price point.
